Bookbinding Blog

Rhonda Miller blogs about bookbinding and paper marbling at My Handbound Books--Bookbinding Blog. Ms. Miller's blog includes tutorials, links to other resources, and pictures of her many projects. She also has an Etsy shop. If you sign up for her newsletter, you will be entered into a drawing for a prize. I've neither won a prize nor signed up for the newsletter, so this information is complete unbiased. :)

Art Journaling Week

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is celebrating Art Journaling Week at her blog, Balzer Designs. Today's (08/16/10) post shows how she does her daily art journal. After prepping the pages of her large moleskine notebook with gesso, masking tape, designs, stamping, and colorwashes, she fills up the spread with a little bit of journaling and artwork each day. Her pictorial and instructions are here.

Two Blogs Worth Your Time

Leilani Pierson, mixed media fiber artist who frequently appears in Cloth Paper Scissors magazine, has posted a 100-day challenge at the CPS forum. The rules are pretty simple: Using any medium of your choice, make a 3"x5" (or thereabouts) piece of art every day for 100 days. I like this challenge--although I'm still debating whether I will do it--because the small size is not intimidating. You don't have much chance to get artist's block or overthink. You can simply create. You can test new techniques without fearing that you may waste a whole sheet of 9"x 12" water color paper. The rules mention using both sides of your base, but I don't think it is an absolute requirement. If you are planning ...

Hello

Hello: I'm starting this blog on a whim, after doing a blog hop and finding lots of neat craft blogs. I don't sew, knit, crochet, or quilt. I make cards and cook. Oh, and I don't have a digital camera--yet. The eye candy on this blog will be very sparse to nonexistent for now, but I invite you to come here to look for links to other beautiful craft and lifestyle blogs. So, welcome. If you like butterflies, soft colors, retro/vintage style, and gorgous photos, then you will love A Field Journal. How I wish that I could have gone to her Fourth of July celebration.
